As I’m sure we all know, life can be quite busy and frantic! There are times I’ve been so busy that once I stop to reflect it’s hard to even recall all that has happened. It’s always nice to be busy and be around family and friends. But remember, the importance of making time for yourself. There should be somewhat of a balance and being conscious you’re making time for you!
If you’re not sure where to start to make time for yourself, keep reading! I’m here to share my favorite ways to do so. Not to mention, they don’t take much time which is perfect if you’re looking for something quick!
- Meditation
- I know it may sound nearly impossible to find time to sit still but it doesn’t have to be a long time to add great value! Even just 5-10 minutes a day can do wonders. Try and find a space in your house where you can go and just be alone. I love to head into our office, light a candle, grab a blanket, my coffee or tea and get cozy on the couch. I love to listen to guided meditations as well to help my mind to keep from wondering. There are many available on the calm app and on youtube.
- Movement
- Moving your body is a great way to ensure you’re keeping your body strong and healthy. It’s also a great way to relieve any stress that could be building up in you. It’s important to take a look at how your body feels before a workout to see which workout could be best that day. If you’re anxious and worn down, yoga could be great. If you’re feeling super upset and frustrated about the day hitting the gym could be a great option. Pondering over difficult deciduous? Try going for a long run or walk to clear your mind.
- Listen to Music
- Music might be my love language (next to food). If I’m ever having a bad day I love to put on some music. If I need to get hyped up for the gym, music. If I’m in a rut and not sure if I can sit down to write another blog post, music. There’s something about how it can just uplift your mood and give you that boost of motivation to have a great day.
- Laugh
- Remember that not all things in life have to be serious! You should find ways to make sure you’re laughing daily. Maybe there’s a funny sitcom you can turn on while you’re making dinner. We all know there are IG reels and TikTok to turn back to where people are doing the craziest things. But let those good endorphins lift up your mood!
- Journal
- I’ve recently been adding this into my morning routines and am loving it so far! I set my time for 10 minutes then I write out 3 things I’m grateful for and 10 things that I’ve made happen. Now, these 10 things that you’ve made happen don’t have to be things that have already happened. But by writing them out as if they have put your body in a conscious awareness to work towards achieving that in your life. Once I’m done with that I just let my pen flow on the paper and get out what has been circling round and round in my mind. Getting these thoughts out on paper helps SO much instead of keeping them bottled up in your head thinking of the same things over and over again.
Well there you have it! Just 5 simple ways that you can make time for yourself during your day. Start with just adding one of these options into your day and I just know you’ll be seeing an improvement in no time. Be sure to let me know your takeaways as well or if you have any other options for taking time for yourself!
